Did you know what the names of Farinolio’s delicious Tuscan “schiacciata” sandwiches mean?
Each one is named after a Macchiaoli painter.
The Macchiaioli were a group of young Italian painters who lived and worked in Tuscany during the period of the Risorgimento (Italian National Unification in 1861) and they were forerunners of the Impressionists:
- Signorini ( Prosciutto di Parma, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes & basil )
- Boldini (Velvety stracchino cheese by Nonno Nanni & Golfetta salame )
- Borrani (Golfetta salame, fresh mozzarella & arugula )
- Cecioni ( Black truffle butter, roasted porchetta & arugula )
- Martelli ( Fresh mozzarella, tomatoes & basil )
- D’Ancona ( Spicy pecorino cheese spread, Borrettane caramelized cipolline & arugula )
